Data You Give Us Directly
Search Queries
A name, case number, or other term entered in a search tool is sent directly to the outside provider operating that tool. The provider processes the query and supplies its results. We do not retain or record those search terms on our systems.
Messages and Contact Submissions
We may retain an email or contact submission long enough to review it and respond. Messages remain within our organization unless disclosure is required by a valid legal obligation.
Data We Gather Automatically
Our servers automatically receive certain technical details when a page loads:
- Page-view times and the length of each visit
- Device category and operating system
- The referring website, when one is reported
- Browser name and version
- Pages opened during the visit
- The device's assigned IP address
Cookies and Analytics
Cookies are small files placed on a device. They help show, in aggregate, which pages receive traffic and where visits end. Analytics providers assist with that measurement. A browser can reject cookies, although disabling them may change how some website features work.
What We Do With This Data
- Operating, maintaining, and improving website performance
- Routing a submitted query to the appropriate search partner
- Measuring which information visitors use most often
- Diagnosing errors, outages, and other technical problems
- Displaying advertising that may reflect visitor interests
No Court-Record Data on File
No court-docket or personal case-record database is hosted, maintained, compiled, or sold here. The published material identifies how Wilson County records may be reached through the Clerk of the Court at Wilson County District Court, the appropriate municipal court clerk, or Kansas CaseSearch. We are not a consumer reporting agency under the Fair Credit Reporting Act. Visitor information is not assembled into a consumer report or a profile about another person.
Third-Party Search Partners
Outside companies operate the search boxes. Information entered there is governed by the provider's privacy policy rather than this policy. Each provider controls its retention and disclosure practices. Review those terms before submitting a query.
Links to Other Websites
Links may lead to Wilson County District Court resources, Kansas CaseSearch, municipal courts, legal-aid organizations, or outside search providers. Once an external link is opened, the destination's privacy terms govern. Read them before providing personal information.
Some advertising providers may measure activity across websites to select ads. That processing occurs on the provider's systems and under its practices.
Who Might See Your Data
Personal data is not sold. Limited information may be available to:
- Analytics providers measuring traffic and performance
- Search partners processing a submitted query
- Government or law-enforcement bodies acting under a valid legal order
- Advertising networks serving ads on the pages
How We Protect Your Data
Reasonable, commonly used safeguards protect information in our control. No internet service is completely secure, however, so we cannot guarantee that unauthorized access or a breach will never occur.
Users Under 18
The website is intended for adults, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone younger than 18. If we learn that a minor submitted such data, we will take reasonable steps to remove it.
Your Data Rights
Rights may differ based on where a visitor lives and the law that applies. The Kansas Open Records Act governs access to qualifying public agency records, while Kansas Supreme Court Rules 21 and 22 govern public access to Kansas court records. Those authorities do not turn privately held website analytics into court records. Subject to applicable law, you may:
- Request deletion of information about you
- Ask to review information held about you
- Object to certain forms of processing
- Seek correction of inaccurate information
Updates to This Policy
This privacy policy may be revised as practices or legal requirements change. A revised version will appear here with its updated effective date.
