Search Wilson Criminal Dockets

Start any Wilson County criminal court docket search with the free state court search, then turn to the courthouse terminal or the clerk for anything it leaves out. The clerk of the district court keeps the record. A docket is the running log of charges, filings, pleas, settings, and outcomes in a criminal case. The calendar is thinner. It shows that a hearing was set, nothing more, and it never proves a result. Kansas access rules also seal some cases and papers, so an empty result does not mean the case is gone. Read it with care.

Wilson Criminal Number Formats

Current district criminal numbers follow WL-YYYY-CR-NNNNNN. Wilson County joined the Odyssey format on November 2, 2020. A case started before then may appear as YYYY-CR-NNNNNN without the county prefix. Search the complete modern number first. If an older number fails, remove the prefix, keep the four-digit year, and retain Wilson as the county filter.

The `CR` family identifies criminal matters in the local calendar. A `TR` number is a district traffic case, while a city ordinance citation belongs to the issuing municipal court. Similar conduct can therefore sit in a different record system. The court named on the citation or notice controls where to search.

What a Criminal Docket Shows

The events index, also called a register of actions, lists public steps in date order. It is not the same as every paper in the file. The inspected Wilson County calendar adds a narrower view of hearing settings. It showed case number, case style, party role, counsel or pro se status, judicial officer, date, time, courtroom, setting type, and continuation notes.

Case numberLocal identifier such as WL-2026-CR-000088.
Case and party fieldsPublic caption, role, and counsel or pro se notation.
SettingDate, time, courtroom, judge, and hearing type.
EventsChronological filings, orders, pleas, and other public actions.
DispositionThe recorded result, when public and entered by the court.

Wilson Criminal Calendar Terms

The rolling district calendar uses short setting labels. They describe the scheduled event, not the result. A Bench Trial entry means a bench trial was placed on the calendar. It does not establish that the trial took place or disclose the judgment.

First Appearance
An early appearance when the court addresses the pending case and next steps.
Pretrial Conference
A setting used to manage issues before a plea or trial.
Review Hearing
A later check on an order, condition, or case status.
Status Conference
A setting to learn where the matter stands and schedule what follows.

For the full sequence, compare the setting with CaseSearch events and any public order. The clerk can identify the correct public document when the calendar alone is unclear.

Stages on a Criminal Docket

A Wilson County criminal case develops through entries rather than one final summary. The complaint begins the public path when access rules permit it. First appearance and pretrial settings may follow. Motions, orders, continuances, a plea or trial setting, disposition, and sentencing can each create distinct events. Some steps are skipped or repeated, and a reset does not mean dismissal.

Use the latest filed order to confirm what happened. A calendar line merely confirms what was scheduled when that PDF was generated.

Wilson Criminal Caseload Context

Official Kansas Judicial Branch tables give useful scale without revealing private case narratives. In fiscal year 2025, Wilson County recorded 128 felony filings, 119 misdemeanor filings, and one appeal in the criminal table. The figures are filings, not a count of unique people, and they cannot predict a result in any one matter.

248total criminal filings
122felony cases pending at year end
85misdemeanor cases pending at year end

The disposition table separately reported 128 felony and 90 misdemeanor dispositions. Those totals combine categories such as diversion, dismissal, guilty plea, and other outcomes. Read them as workload context only.

Which Court Holds Criminal Dockets

The Wilson County District Court, part of the Kansas 31st Judicial District, keeps state felony and misdemeanor files. District magistrate proceedings remain within that district court record. Kansas CaseSearch and the district clerk are the correct channels for these cases. The Clerk of the Court is at 615 Madison, Room 214, Fredonia, KS 66736, and can be reached at 620-378-4533 during the posted weekday office hours.

Fredonia, Neodesha, Altoona, Buffalo, Benedict, and other municipal courts keep city ordinance records apart from the district docket. A municipal appeal can later produce a district case under K.S.A. 22-3609. Federal criminal matters use PACER and the U.S. District Court for the District of Kansas, not CaseSearch.

Wilson Online and Counter Access

The public search is only the first access layer. Kansas judicial guidance says a courthouse computer is reserved for public searches of information and records in that court. Older converted documents may be public at that terminal even when the web portal does not display them. Call the district clerk before travel if a hearing, copy, or terminal question is time-sensitive.

When a public document is still absent, submit a focused written court-record request with the case number, document name, and date. Ask the clerk about delivery and copy charges before sending payment.

Public Access and Sealed Criminal Dockets

Kansas policy favors open public records, but court rules draw firm limits. Rule 22 excludes specified cases and documents from normal electronic access. Juvenile, adoption, grand-jury, expunged, protection-order, and other protected categories may not appear. An unexecuted warrant remains sealed until the required return is filed, unless a later order keeps it sealed. A public complaint can therefore sit beside a warrant that is not yet open.

Key rules:

Kansas Supreme Court Rule 22 sets electronic-access exclusions for cases and documents.

K.S.A. 22-2410 restricts disclosure of expunged criminal files.

The official expungement statute source appears in the assigned image below.

Its limits explain why no online result must never be described as proof that no historical case existed. Verify the lawful public record with the originating court.

Wilson Criminal Request Details

The clerk's office is open from 8:00 a.m. to noon and 1:00 to 4:30 p.m. on weekdays. No public clerk email or document dropbox was located, so call before sending a written request. Name the case, filing, and date. Ask whether a plain copy, certified copy, events index, or transcript fits the need, since each is a different court product.

The Kansas record form can be delivered to the proper custodian. Confirm the current custodian name and any reasonable copying or certification charge first. A transcript uses the 31st District transcript request route. A calendar line is not a transcript, and a browser printout is not a certified court copy.
