How to Search Civil Dockets
Open Kansas CaseSearch, accept the terms, and choose District. Select Wilson County and use Case Number, Party Name, Business Name, or Party As Business Name. Expand the filters to choose Civil and a filing range when it helps. A precise number is the cleanest route.
If no result appears, try the older format and remove a narrow date filter. Public records missing online may be searched at the courthouse terminal or requested from the Wilson County District Court clerk.
- Choose District and Wilson County.
- Select the right search type and enter the complete term.
- Apply Civil and date filters only when useful.
- Complete the human check and compare filing details.
- Open the public events or request a named document from the clerk.
Wilson Civil Case Codes
Modern Wilson County numbers begin with `WL`. Limited civil appears as WL-2026-LM-000014, and small claims can appear as WL-2026-SC-000004. Domestic matters use `DM`. Cases started before November 2, 2020 may omit `WL`, so an old search may need YYYY-CC-NNNNNN with Wilson selected.
The code routes a search but does not make each document public. Family and protection-order material has stricter limits.
What a Civil Docket Shows
The events index lists public steps in date order. It may show the number, style, filing date, parties, counsel, judge, hearings, filed events, and disposition. The Wilson calendar supplies a narrower settings view. It does not contain the whole complaint, answer, discovery file, exhibits, or judgment.
| Case number | County prefix, year, case family, and sequence. |
|---|---|
| Parties | Public caption and plaintiff or defendant roles. |
| Events | Pleadings, motions, orders, and other public actions. |
| Settings | Date, time, courtroom, judge, and hearing label. |
| Disposition | Judgment, dismissal, settlement, or other result. |
Wilson Limited Civil Volume
Fiscal year 2025 tables reported 652 Wilson County civil filings. Limited actions made up 482, compared with 40 regular actions and 130 domestic filings. These totals measure filings, not unique people, and cannot predict a result.
The disposition table listed 444 limited, 43 regular, and 101 domestic dispositions. Filing and disposition totals are separate workload measures.
Types of Civil Cases on the Docket
Wilson County District Court handles regular civil, limited civil, small claims, and domestic matters. The official table divides regular filings into contract, other, real-property, and tort categories. Domestic totals include status, other, parentage, protection from abuse, and protection from stalking entries.
- Regular actions, including contract, tort, and property matters
- Limited actions identified by `LM`
- Small claims identified by `SC`
- Domestic and family matters identified by `DM`
- Public probate and related civil proceedings
Wilson Civil Filings Window
Kansas Civil Filings is distinct from the normal register. The Judicial Branch report says it shows new, nonsealed civil documents before clerk review and acceptance. Documents remain for three days unless rejected under Rule 23(c). Its timing may therefore differ from CaseSearch.
The official source appears in the assigned capture.

Use the feed for qualifying new submissions and CaseSearch or the clerk for the accepted record and later events.
Settings and Hearings on Civil Dockets
The Wilson calendar has shown Motion, Divorce Uncontested, Petition, Pretrial Conference, Status Conference, Bench Trial, and Final Settlement. Each names a planned event, not its result. A continued note means the reader must locate the new setting; it does not erase the case.
The district makes a weekly best effort to update the PDF. Call 620-378-4533 when a date, time, or courtroom must be confirmed. The full Wilson County court calendar walkthrough explains its fields.
Wilson Judgment Copies
Case information is not the filed judgment. A portal result identifies an event, but a reader who needs the ruling should request that document by case number and date. A certified copy bears the clerk's certification; a web printout does not.
Rule 1.03 and K.S.A. 28-170 allow district courts to set reasonable copy and certification charges. No current Wilson fee sheet was found. Confirm cost and delivery with the Clerk of the Court at 620-378-4533. The office is at 615 Madison, Room 214, Fredonia, KS 66736, and has weekday hours split by a noon closure.
Public Access to Civil Dockets
Kansas Rules 21 and 22 define the public record and electronic boundary. Protection-order, juvenile, adoption, care-and-treatment, and other protected cases may be excluded. Divorce, custody, support, guardianship, parentage, and other listed documents may stay off the web even when a public event is visible. Aggregate court statistics do not open an individual petition.
Key rules:
Rule 21 defines the events index and court record.
Rule 22 limits electronic access to listed cases and documents.
The official Kansas open-records policy appears below.

It favors public access while preserving legal exemptions.
The Kansas access procedure is captured next.

Route court-file requests to the district-court custodian, not the separate County Clerk.
Wilson Civil Request Details
The fiscal year tables add detail without exposing parties. Wilson reported two regular contract filings, 19 other regular actions, 12 real-property matters, and seven tort matters. All 482 limited-action filings appeared in the contract column. Domestic filings included 27 status, 25 other, six parentage, 43 protection-from-abuse, and 29 protection-from-stalking entries. These figures show the local mix but do not open protected petitions.
The clerk's counter is in Room 214 at 615 Madison in Fredonia. Call 620-378-4533 before mailing a request. No district-court public email, dropbox, or fixed fee sheet was found. Identify the exact judgment, journal entry, pleading, or order, plus the full number and approximate date. Ask whether a plain copy, certified copy, transcript, or events index is needed. Posted hours are 8:00 a.m. to noon and 1:00 to 4:30 p.m. on weekdays.
Rule 24 places the main duty to remove protected identifiers on filers and attorneys. Birth dates, account numbers, Social Security numbers, and other data have special treatment. An unavailable image or blank field can reflect lawful redaction. When part of a record is exempt, ask whether a redacted public portion can be supplied.
CaseSearch, the courthouse terminal, phone contact, clerk counter, and a written court-record form make up the documented access chain. Kansas Civil Filings adds only a short new-submission window. It does not replace the accepted docket. The County Clerk in Room 104 handles county administration and cannot certify a district civil judgment.
Wilson Civil Portal Limits
The calendar sample shows why the document name matters. A limited-civil row can identify a Motion, Status Conference, Bench Trial, or Final Settlement setting, yet it does not supply the motion, ruling, evidence, or judgment. Compare the setting with the events index. Then request the public filed item that answers the question. A continuation calls for a later search, not an assumption about the outcome.
Domestic statistics require more care. Protection-order counts appear in annual tables, but Rule 22 restricts those records online. Divorce, custody, support, parentage, and guardianship documents also have electronic limits. The presence of a `DM` line or count does not make the papers open. Ask the custodian about the lawful public portion.
Guest access supplies basic public detail. ID.me and expanded access do not turn sealed content into public material. Try the courthouse terminal for older converted public files. If a public item remains absent, a focused clerk request is the final step.
